What does being a women mean to you?

Being a woman means being strong and independent while also being flexible, compassionate, and patient.

What advice would you give to your 16 year old/younger self?

Just as much as you plan for your future and success, make sure to allocate time to enjoy life's pleasures too. Balancing work and life enjoyment is key to making your life journey truly enjoyable.

If you could have dinner with three inspirational women, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

I'd love to have dinner with Sheryl Sandberg, the CEO of Facebook, and Angela Merkel, the former Chancellor of Germany. Sharing insights and experiences with these two influential women in business and politics would undoubtedly be a fascinating experience and could provide unparalleled guidance for achieving my goals.

How have you managed to balance your career and personal life?

Let me tell you, I'm as serious about my work as I am about savouring those delicious moments of laughter and joy in my personal life. Trust me, if I live twice as long, I'll be doubling down on laughing at my own jokes!

What challenges have you faced as a woman in your career? How did you overcome them?

I  prefer not to dwell on past challenges and difficulties. They're just that—part of the past. I'm grateful to be living in a world today that's more progressive and secure. Instead of focusing on the obstacles I've faced, I choose to focus on the present and the opportunities it presents. It's empowering to see the progress we've made, and I'm optimistic about the future.

Here's what Maryam says about working at Ash Air this #IWD2024!

One notable aspect of Ash Air is, its genuine commitment to gender diversity, fostering an environment where all members support each other regardless of gender and ensure equal opportunities. It's wonderful that we can grow together and contribute to the progress of this company.

Join Us In International Women's Day #InspireInclusion

This March 8th, we celebrate International Women's Day (IWD) 2024, embracing the powerful theme: Inspire Inclusion. As we approach this important day, our organization commits to not only recognize but actively participate in fostering an environment where inclusion is not just encouraged but practiced.

What's the history of International Women's Day?

International Women's Day has occurred for well over a century with the first gathering held in 1911. Learn more about the day's timeline on the IWD website

What colors symbolize International Women's Day?

Purple, green and white are the colors of International Women's Day. Purple signifies justice and dignity. Green symbolizes hope. White represents purity, albeit a controversial concept. The colors originated from the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) in the UK in 1908

Who can support International Women's Day?

International Women's Day is not country, group, nor organization specific. No one government, NGO, charity, corporation, academic institution, women's network, or media hub is solely responsible for International Women's Day. The day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once explained "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist, nor to any one organization, but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights."  So make International Women's Day your day and do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women.
