Water for All Q1 fundraiser update

Water for All is our main community engagement initiative. Through the dedicated and passionate work of volunteering employees, Water for All funds projects which empower people through access to clean drinking water, sanitation and hygiene. Since 1984 we have reached millions of people all over the world and there are local Water for All organizations in more than 50 countries.

In late October, the Ash Air team, throughout the country (Auckland North and South, Waikato, Taranaki, Bay of Plenty, Christchurch and Dunedin) celebrated the launch of Water For All in New Zealand! The activity was held on the same day, at all regions throughout the country.

In the build up to the event, our team learnt about how water changes lives, and how we can be part of an important movement that provides clean drinking water and improved facilities for sanitation and hygiene in countries that need it the most. Nearly 20% of our entire company signed up to this great initiative.

Water for All is very close to the hearts of our employees. It was founded in Sweden in 1984 by Atlas Copco Group employees Peter Hรฅkansson and Torgny Rogert and has continued to spread across the world ever since.

At the center lies the strong belief that clean water is a human right and all voluntary employee donations to this cause are matched by twice as much by the company. The money is used to support projects which give people in need access to clean drinking water and improved facilities for sanitation and hygiene.

Women and young girls are particularly affected by the lack of water and sanitation, and all projects supported by Water for All thus aim to positively impact the lives of especially women and girls.

A word from ADRA

With good health, people can live life to the fullest. Thatโ€™s why we work with communities to provide access to clean water, improve sanitation and hygiene, reduce malnutrition and prevent diseases.

"Clean water"

Weโ€™re currently working in Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu to provide clean water to remote communities. We have extensive experience working in the WASH sector, especially in Vanuatu where we have been working in for over ten years. Our New Zealand based project managers support the local office staff in each country who implement the project

Some of our key activities in both countries include the following:

  • Building clean water systems in communities (community taps, rain catchment and storage systems)
  • Training community members on how to maintain shared water systems
  • Building latrines outside family homes
  • Building tap stands and latrines in schools
